Hometown: Cameroon Africa (been in the States since I was 10 in 2006) Currently living in Clarksville.
MUSIC GENRES: worship, country, classical
DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS AN ARTIST: I’m a Christian artist with a modern sound with a hint of hymns.
UNIQUE AS ARTIST: I guess it’s up for listeners to decide but for myself I’ve learned/am learning to differentiate songs that are inspired by man’s spirit and songs inspired by the spirit of God. Although both can be good, there is an anointed component to songs inspired by the holy spirit that is the kind of music I want to put out that invokes His presence.
Instruments: None
ABOUT SELF: I’m an extreme introvert and really value privacy but I’ve also always felt it within me God was calling me to a public platform which has been an internal struggle at times because I want to stay hidden but I also want the work done. Growing up I used to be tormented with night terrors and sleep paralysis nothing worked for years it went on and one day I just went directly to God and said I’ve read what you’ve done in the bible I know you can do this for me I’m asking you to and if you will free me, I promise to give my life to fight for your side whatever you want. Sure enough God heard and delivered me shortly after that and I received my calling order worshiper He told me. And I’ve since been learning through life the true meaning of worship. Worship is sacrifice, faith its obedience and song its beautiful.
HOBBIES INTEREST OUTSIDE MUSIC: I used to paint a lot but I don’t really have time for it now with the family.
What inspired playing performing music: I fell in-love with classical at a young age I used to think I’d be an opera star but in Bible college when we received an assignment to use our gifts for God I sang non-classical for the first time song for God and the president of my college heard it and He was the first of many people to say this was my calling and God confirmed it later personally to me.
IN YOUR OPINION WHAT MAKES A SONG GREAT: If it can move the heart.
Write music: yes
Creative processs: if it’s only me usually the chorus or melody or verse will come to me during time with God and then I ask what He wants to say and He brings to memory different events and bible verse and I all comes together. Writing with others is new I’ve done it once. I usually let others take the lead because so far God is sending me legends hit-writer to work with like Curt and John its new for me and a learning curve I want to learn as much as I can so I take a backseat. I’m honored to learn from the best. I’m really looking forward to my writing session with Tommy Snyder in April.
First performance: My very first performance was with my family in a group I’m the middle of 7. we used to perform at church a lot as young as 5 years old. I didn’t think much of it I was not thinking I’d end up doing that at all. My dad is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in French in my home country. He wrote and we performed many of his christian songs. He told me recently we come from a long line of christian artist. And that His dream and prayer and his father and father’s father dream and prayer going back many generations was that they would be given the opportunity to honor and worship God with songs on a professional large level. My dad tells me a lot recently “what is happening with you is the result of prayers of many generations. And that he believes God answered yes the first time but that it would come through a descendant in further generations down.” I never knew that story it’s really cool but only God really knows.
Influences: My musical influences are mainly African worships and one or two American ones. Nathaniel Bassey is a favorite extremely anointed.
Awards: I just started so none so far but that’s not my main goal. As a christian artist; my job is to be as authentic and efficient as possible with what God wants to say. And if companies or people feel certain way about it and want to recognize that I would be honored yes but my main goal is first making sure God is pleased.
Advice for someone trying to break into music: you cant compare apples to oranges everyone has their own specific wonderful important purpose in life focus on your calling where your gifts are where you have confirmation from God. If its music for you, keep at it no matter what it will happen if it is not be honest with yourself and do not force it. It can be dangerous.
Who to meet: A face to face with the creator of everything God the father of course! is there anyone else? Let’s just say I have A LOT of questions. Human: Nathaniel Bassey because he helped introduce me to the anointed dimension of song. He’s the greatest musical mentor I’ve never met.
